GALE Commercial™ is proud to be featured in four winning projects at the Advanced Textiles Association’s 2024 International Achievement Awards (IAA) - honoring the most creative and successful textile installations worldwide. Each featured project, ranging from urban parks to vineyards, showcases the versatility, resilience, and design potential of GALE Commercial fabrics, and the ability to meet the demands of diverse environments to create functional, protective, and aesthetically impactful outdoor spaces. 

2024 Award of Excellence: Tensile Structures, 600 – 2300 square meters 

Project: Glow Plaza – Reno, NV
Partner: GuildWorks
GALE Fabric: Commercial NinetyFive 

Glow Plaza sits in the heart of Reno’s festival district and required shade relief from intense summer heat. The installation of Commercial NinetyFive provided shade to nearly seventy percent of the plaza, transforming the space into a vibrant community hub. The sculptural canopy introduces bold visual energy while giving visitors a comfortable place to escape the sun, turning a high traffic area into an inviting destination.

2024 Award of Excellence: Hybrid Tension Structures  

Project: Adelsheim Vineyard – Newberg, OR

GALE Fabric: Commercial NinetyFive

Adelsheim Vineyard sought to expand outdoor seating and provide reliable protection in every season. The result is a multi-layered canopy system that unites permanent and seasonal structures into one cohesive design. The use of Commercial NinetyFive enabled an elegant solution that blends modern functionality with timeless architectural character. Guests now enjoy year-round comfort while the winery benefits from enhanced operational flexibility.

2024 Award of Excellence: HDPE Shade Structures and Sails 

Project: The Overlook Club Patio, Gary Farrell Winery – Healdsburg, CA  
Partner: Sonoma Shade Sails 
GALE Fabric: Commercial DualShade 350 

For the Overlook Club Patio, the design team created a striking "Fishtail" shade sail that delivers strong performance and artistic impact. Using Commercial DualShade in GoldRush, the installation adds expressive color and sculptural presence to the mountainside patio. Supported by a robust steel frame, the structure exceeded expectations in both visual appeal and engineering strength, giving guests a comfortable and memorable outdoor experience.

2024 Outstanding Achievement: HDPE Shade Structures and Sails 

Project: CSM Martin R. "Gunny" Barreras Memorial Park – Tucson, AZ
Partner: SHADE Industries 
GALE Fabric: Commercial Heavy 430 

This memorial park required a shade solution capable of standing up to Tucson’s extreme desert conditions. The installation an impressive 78’ x 60’, with a 16’ entryway. Commercial Heavy 430 delivered exceptional durability, UV protection, and long term weather resistance needed for high exposure public spaces. The structure enhances comfort for visitors while elevating the overall look and feel of the park.
